Legend of the Crystal Skulls

The human skull is one of the most durable substances found in nature and the dome shape is immensely strong, protecting the brain from crushing, injury or damage. It protects the brain, required for intelligent thought and also the sense organs of sight, smell, hearing, taste and also imperative aspects of life, digestion and breathing. The skull is an ambiguous symbol of both death - and its opposite - immortality. Head cults existed throughout the world, most notably amongst the Mayan people of Central America who, many thousands of years ago, decorated real human skulls with gemstones (such as the beautiful turquoise skull in the Mexican Gallery of the British Museum). The native Mayan people wore small decorative carved skulls as ornaments around their neck carved from jadeite, quartz and other gemstones.

Spirit of Isis Healing Centre

Spirit of Isis Spiritual Centre has re opened as Teaching Therapies Holistic Centre and is under new ownership.

Our most recent session covered a shamanic healing using the drum to assist with journeying to the spirit realms. (Wendy studied Mongolian shamanism which does not accept the use of drugs). Previously the meditation session included identifying daily activities which are found to be healing; such as communication with others, enjoyment of our pets and of nature, our senses, music, colour, the security of our home, our ability to read, and many other aspects of ordinary life which can be taken for granted. After this, we entered a deep trance meditation for healing of mind, body and spirit which was followed by a full chakra cleansing and healing session. Previous sessions include contemplation, concentration and meditation tasters and the difference between these similar mind-states and what can be gained from each.

Wendy's Healing and Meditation course runs monthly on Mondays at Spirit of Isis Holistic Centre in Sun Street, Waltham Abbey from 11am - 1pm. The cost is £7. Just turn up but please do not arrive late. For more information, telephone: 01992 651 045

Atlantis Spiritual Centre Divination Workshop

Lynn Saunders, owner of the Atlantis Spiritual Centre in Crews Hill hosted a day of divination facilitated by Wendy Stokes. This well-equipped centre has excellent free parking and I just a five minute walk from Crews Hill station. The group room is comfortable for a small number of attenders or for a larger group, perhaps a maximum of twenty or more and both cushions and chairs are available. The workshop began at 10am as we got together in twos to clarify the question that we would ask the Spirit of Divination to answer during the day. Answers very much depend upon the question asked. For those who wanted their question to remain private, they could speak about how they felt about the question as sometimes, we dare not ask the question we most need to ask due to anxiety about the possible answer, so the day started off with a challenge, for the members to be real and true to themselves, to take a risk and trust. The question was written down and placed under a candle devoted to the archangel Michael.

Spiritual Cinema Club Review

This club is endorsed by reputable spiritual teachers, such as Bruce Lipton, the late Dr Wayne Dyer, James Twyman, Neale Donald Walsch - to name a few. It supplies films that rarely reach the general public but are ideal for those who like to watch a DVD at home with friends and family. Most of the films this organisation provides are suitable for the entire family and are often educational and always uplifting, meaningful and inspirational. The organisation requests a monthly subscription and I have heard their choice referred to as ‘film therapy’.

Soul Rescue - Spirit Release - Exorcism book extract

Soul rescue is conducted in most Spiritualist and mediumship groups, usually on a regular basis. Not all earthbound spirits move quickly into the light. Some need help crossing over. There is a threshold area between this world and the next. It is a transition area sometimes described as a tunnel, a bridge, a doorway, a stairway, for instance. When a spirit is unaware that they are in the spirit realms or unable to let go of an attachment to the physical world, they attach themselves and live vicariously through their host, often soul rescue is necessary. Many of these lost or disorientated spirits are confused. They have often had a shock and returned to Spirit very quickly, without any preparation. Victims of traumatic violence, such as murder, accidents, or war victims, commonly need rescue, as do children, elderly people who are distressed, mentally ill people, or those who did not want to leave the physical world due to unfulfilled plans.

Most countries of the world have tales of helpful deities, angels or spirit guides who provide safe passage to the deceased person’s spirit, leading it safely into the spirit realms. Funerary art from many thousands of years ago depict the 'psychopomp' who escorts the dead to the netherworlds. Sometimes, animals, such as dogs, deer, birds, horses, expressly perform the task of escorting lost souls to the heavenly realms. The art of the Egyptians, Greeks and Tibetans show their knowledge in this field; the Cathars were also very knowlegeable. The Shakers (an offshoot of the Quaker faith) also performed this function.

Ghosts and Hauntings

The Gilgamesh poem is 4,000 years old - the oldest story ever told. It contains the earliest written account about a ghost and was written on an Assyrian clay tablet dating from around 650BCE. It was found in Nineveh during archeological excavations. It is inscribed with an appeal from a man who is possessed by a tyrannical ghost. The ancient Hindu scriptures, Atharva Veda, also detail demonic possession. We are familiar with the cases described in the New Testament where Jesus meets a possessed man on the shores of the Sea of Galilee and directly addresses the spirit by asking “What is your name?” and is told, “My name is Legion” (that is an entire invading and occupying Roman army). The man pleads with Jesus not to command the spirits to depart but Jesus saw a large herd of cows nearby and directed the demons out of the man and into the swine herd who charged to the cliff edge and threw themselves into the sea and were drowned.

On the rare occasions that modern day cases are reported, they are always controversial. In 1949, a boy referred to as Robbie Doe was exorcised by Father William S Bowden and became the subject of the later sensationalised film, the Exorcist.

Strange Case of Abraham Lincoln and John F Kennedy

Synchronicity - as described by the psychologist, Carl Jung, is a 'meaningful' coincidence! The word 'synchronicity' could be used to describe the amazing similarities between two US Presidents; Abraham Lincoln and John F Kennedy:

Lincoln was elected to the US Congress in 1846 and was then elected as President in 1860.

John F Kennedy was elected to the US Congress in 1946 and was then elected as President in 1960, both elections of Kennedy were exactly a century later that Lincoln.

Both men were named after their grandfather, both were second children. Both served in the military, both captained boats, both were lawyers, and both involved with controversial human rights issues.
Both have seven letters in their surname and both were six feet tall. Lincoln is thought to have suffered from Marfan’s Disease and Kennedy suffered from Addison’s Disease, both are genetically inherited diseases.

Egyptian Goddess Workshop

The best thing about my small group of 8 people is that this is the ideal size for an indepth group and there was plenty of time for sharing ideas and experiences. A larger group tends to be discussions which dilute the huge amount of learning that can be achieved in just a few hours of working together with dedicated goddess practitioners.

Goddesses as archetypes and subpersonalities, their ability to have independent power and influence our lives were covered. The balance of power within female and male deities and the importance of a pantheon to offer an array of specialities and aspects of life was also mentioned. How we can contact our Higher Power and access the big person that we were intended to be was included at the end. Hathor, Maat, Nut and Sekhmet were on the agenda, but the day focussed on Isis as Goddess of Healing, Compassion and Love and her narrative as the loving wife of the God Osiris, killed by the God Set, his cut pieces were scattered to the 4 corners of the land. Isis, in her grief, and with huge determination, searched for these precious parts and miraculously rebuilt Osiris, bringing him back to life to father the

Difference - Medium - Channeller

Do spirits not care about our world and what happens here? Are spirits helpless to do anything about the injustices and suffering they see here on the earth plane?

Those who have physically died continue to live eternally in the spirit realms and are extremely interested in what happens here in the physical world. They are waiting patiently to be contacted by mediums who can deliver messages of wisdom.

Mediums generally bring ‘proof of spirit survival’ changing a person from a non-believer in life-after-death to a believer.

In ancient times, 'proof of survival' mediumship did not exist. It did not need to. Everyone believed in the afterlife because they were closer to the subtle realms than we are in the busy world of the 21st century.

Jane Burvill's Pumpkin Soup Recipe

Serves 6
Ingredients:
approx 1 kg/2lb 4oz pumpkin;
40g or 1.5 oz butter or margarine;
1 thinly sliced onion;
1 crushed garlic clove;
900 ml or 1 pint of vegetable stock;
salt and pepper;
1/2 tsp ground ginger;
1 tbsp lemon juice;
3-4 thinly pared strips of orange rind;
1-2 bay leaves or 1 bouquet garni;
300 ml or 1.5 pints milk
TO GARNISH: 4-6 tbsp single or double cream, natural yogurt or fromage frais; snipped fresh chives

1. Peel the pumpkin, remove the seeds and then cut the flesh into 2.5 cm or 1 inch cubes. 2. Melt the butter or margarine in a large, heavy-based saucepan. Add the onion and garlic and fry over a low heat until soft but not coloured.
3. Add the pumpkin and toss with the onion and garlic for 2-3 minutes.
4. Add the stock and bring to the boil over a medium heat. Season to taste with salt and pepper and add the ground ginger and lemon juice, the strips of orange rind, if using, and the bay leaves or bouquet garni.
5. Cover the pan and gently simmer the soup over a low heat for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pumpkin is tender.
6. Discard the orange rind, if using, and the bay leaves or bouquet garni. Cool the soup slightly, then press through a sieve with the back of a spoon, or place in a food processor or blender until smooth. Pour into a clean saucepan.
7. Add the milk and reheat gently. Adjust the seasoning. Garnish with a swirl of cream, natural yogurt or fromage frais and snipped chives, and serve.

Ghosts From the Past

In the days of ancient Greece, crossroads were dedicated to Hecate, Goddess of the Underworld, who was said to have 3 faces, each to observe the three ways of the crossroads. Representations of her as a pole with 3 masks were placed where 3 roads met and cakes with candles were left so the ghosts that followed her would be fed and not haunt the living. Diana, Roman Goddess of the Witches was also Goddess of the Crossroads and a small altar was placed there for the protection for travellers who left gifts in return for good luck. In India, Rudra, the God of the Crossroads also ruled ghosts and evil powers, in Africa, Elegua opened and closed all paths and carried a forked stick made of the guava tree. In Russia, vampires were said to lurk at crossroads, in Sweden witches were reported to dance at the crossroads in order to summon the devil.

The History of Hauntings!

The historian, Tacitus documents an early haunting that occurred 2000 years ago. It happened to the philosopher, Athenodorus, who bought a house and discovered, one evening whilst at work, a ghost shaking chains at him. Dismissing the spectre to return to his work, the ghost eagerly beckoned the philosopher into the courtyard where he vanished. Marking the spot where the spectre stood, Athenodorus dug into the ground and discovered the corpse of a man in chains. The philosopher carefully separated the bones from the chains and conducted a dignified burial. The ghost was seen no more.

Haunted London

48 Doughty Street to 13 Portsmouth Street WC2: When he was 27 years old, Charles Dickens, moved into this imposing house in 1837 with his new wife, Catherine. They lived here for three years during which time his sister-in-law, Mary Hogarth died here. Mary was the inspiration for the character of Little Nell, who worked in the little 'odds and ends' shop in his tragic novel, The Old Curiosity Shop. The concerned ghost of Charles Dickens, wearing top hat and tails, has been seen rushing along this route.
University College Hospital Gower Street NW1: The first operation with the use of a general anaesthetic was performed at this hospital in 1846 when a leg was amputated in just thirty seconds. In 1890, a young nurse, Lizzie Church, attended the bedside of her lover who was a patient here. She accidentally administered an overdose of morphine and he died. It is said she committed suicide in remorse and her ghost is seen to this day by hospital staff when morphine is administered to patients.
Lincoln's Inn Fields off High Holborn WC2: This is the largest public square in London and was one of the major sites of public executions that were carried out in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. In1586, Anthony Babington was hung, drawn and quartered for his part in a plot to remove Queen Elizabeth I from the throne of England and replace her with Mary, Queen of Scots. His ghost roams the grounds.
