Communication, life purpose and making the world a better place.
From the Dali Tarot - The High Priest. Personal essence. All High Priests of many different religious traditions, have one thing in common. It was – and is – the foremost task to interpret the mysteries of life and to organise the appropriate rites. It is your task today to recognise this power within yourself. The key is right in front of you. The staff with the triple cross hints at the Christian Pope. In a much broader sense, it is a symbol of connecting to something larger, of the passage between heaven and earth. The staff is like an antenna, which enables you to receive and send messages from near and far places. The whole person is needed. The big figure and the two smaller ones are metaphors for your personal strengths and weaknesses. Utilise both and take that into consideration, which goes beyond your current understanding. The circles and rays around the figurehead symbolise higher consciousness, which transcends your own personality. For religious minded people this card suggests finding your way to God and making your peace with Him. In a broader sense, this card is all about teaching and learning, initiating and understanding. In order to know others you have to first know yourself and the purpose of your own existence. What is so special about Salvador Dali’s interpretation? It focuses on the mutual initiation and communication processes that take place between people. Aside from the threefigures, there is no church and no hint of religious dogma. But the halo around the head symbolises the presence of a greater dimension. Dali shows that the sacred manifests itself in our daily interactions. Each person is a spiritual teacher for every other person if it can manifest the sacred. Practical advice. Initiate others into your mysteries. Open yourself to the needs of others. That which makes sense will stimulate the senses. Johannes Fiebig.
