Who was Harry Edwards? Harry Edwards was born in Balham, south London, in 1893, and was one of nine children born to his father, who was a printer, and his mother, who was a dressmaker. This was a dedicated Church of England family and at the age of twelve, Harry joined the London Diocese Church Lads' Brigade, and later, as a young man, he trained with his father as a printer until the outbreak of war and in 1914 he enlisted as an engineer in the Royal Sussex Regiment and was promoted to Captain. He served in
He married his childhood
sweetheart and they owned a stationers shop in Balham together. Harry was
interested in local politics and stood as a Liberal candidate. In 1936, he
became interested in Spiritualism and discovered he had the gift of healing. In
middle age, World War II started and he joined the Home Guard. When his own
home was bombed, his family moved from London .
His brother took over the family printing business in 1946, allowing Harry time
to concentrate on spiritual healing and setting up the Harry Edwards Healing
Sanctuary at a magnificent 30 acre site, Burrowslea in Shere, near Guidford in
the beautiful Surrey countryside. The
Sanctuary is a registered charity and makes no charge for distant, contact or
non-contact healing. In 1955, Harry also founded and was President of the
National Federation of Spiritual Healers. Harry's fame as a compassionate and
dedicated healer spread. He soon became the world's most well-known and gifted
healer. He received 10,000 letters each week and filled large auditoriums, such
as the Royal Albert Hall with as many as 6,000 people. In 1966 he set up a
charity to provide healing and training services at Burrowslea. He passed into
Spirit in 1976 at the age of eighty-three. It was said by those that trained
with him that Harry worked closely with two particular spirit guides, Lord
Lister and Dr Louis Pasteur. Today the Harry Edwards Healing Sanctuary has
recently been refurbished and extended and includes conference and wedding
facilities. The Sanctuary produces a regular newsletter 'The Healing Magazine'
that is available free online or can be purchased from the centre. It also runs
courses in healing and complementary therapies. Meditation, relaxation and
retreats are also on offer. If anyone requires healing, their name can be
placed in the Book of Dedication on the Sanctuary table. Many amazing healings
are still reported. Harry's books are essential textbooks for all spiritual
healers:
Life Around my Father: An autobiography, Spirit Healing: The Healing Intelligence: The Power of Spiritual Healing: A Guide to Understanding the Practice of Spiritual Healing by Harry Edwards is recommended.
If you are in need of spiritual healing, please join the healers
who send absent healing at 10am and 10pm each evening when healing is sent
to those who are in need. A spontaneous prayer can be said or the following
prayer recited:
"May I be thankful for all the blessings I already
have. Grant me relief from pain and sickness, protect me from all ills and
grant me good health in the days to come. Remove all causes of imperfection and
bring Thy Healing Ministers close to me that I may be conscious of their
presence and so receive guidance and inspiration. Grant me courage and
fortitude to overcome all adversity. Let me be conscious of Thy strength in all
times of need. Grant me confidence to overcome my fears and not to anticipate
harm. Teach me, how to live rightly in Thy sight, to do only that which is
right and true. I pray that good guidance and right influencing will inspire
all Thy peoples to be as brothers, one to the other, and that peace shall
endure for all time. Amen."
