Lemanja is Goddess of the month of February. She is goddess of the seas and oceans, and of women, and is often associated with the moon and its cycles. She is your moon goddess as across Brazil, Cuba, Uruguay, and Africa, she is lovingly worshipped and celebrated. Ancient myths associate her with everything to do with the Divine feminine, the cycles, fertility, mothering, birthing, creating life, sensuality, and she fiercely protects everything around the mysteries of womanhood.
It is said that when Lemanja’s waters broke in childbirth and dashed from within her, the seas, lakes and streams were created. She birthed humans from her womb and she is the creator, giver, and protector of life. She is depicted as a beautiful mermaid with cowrie shells, swimming in the depths of the ocean, and holding the sparkle of moonlight within her hands, she sends this to support you this month to birth your projects into reality.
Her mantra is, “I am learning that as I connect to my Divine feminine, my project and creativity flow, effortlessly from deep within me. I am the divine creator of my story.”
Her symbols are cowrie shells, signifying her wealth and her close connection to the sea. Her totem is the white rose of purity and beauty Her exercises are all things associated with water. Her sense of peace and tranquility can be gained by using lavender, clary sage, and chamomile.
