Wendy's Post Bag

Q: Dear Wendy: Do you have any recommendation about enlightenment? KC.

Dear KC: Before enlightenment, chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment, chop wood, carry water.

Before enlightenment, vacuum carpet, wash up dishes! After enlightenment, vacuum carpet, wash up dishes!

Dear Wendy: Four months ago, I split up from my partner, a woman with two young children from a previous marriage. She now has someone else in her life and I find I am missing her two children. Over the ten months we were together and I bonded with them, but now she is adamant that I am out of her life and cannot see her children. I feel embarrassed to mention it to my family. I am less likely to get involved now with anyone with children. Is this fair? DD

Wendy replies: Dear DD: Every situation is different and it does seem unfair from your perspective. I am sorry that you are hurting and that you are now feeling guarded with your next relationship, should it be with someone who has children. You are obviously a deeply caring person and your love will be appreciated by someone looking for kindness and commitment. But the mother must give her children priority and they now have their mum, each other, and a new parental ‘significant other’. She has replaced you, which is painful in itself and he would probably not want you around. I think you are grieving for the loss of this family structure. This type of loss is very common but goes unrecognised by many people so it would be useful for you to contact a caring counsellor who will understand what you are going through.  Q: I think I’m clairvoyant, but I don’t understand what the visions from Spirit mean. How do I understand them?

Wendy replies: If this happens, ask the Spirit to show you a book with a title that relates to their message, or they could write down their message on a piece of paper and show it to you or they can mime what they want you to know. However, it is rare for a medium to have exclusively one ability. Usually, one ability is especially developed, but others are also possible, such as the ability to hear. I suggest, you ask the Spirit to give you a message in words. Watch the Spirit’s mouth, and see if it is moving. Then listen to see if you can hear their voice. It might be slow at first as you develop this ability. You can also ask the Spirit to deliver telepathically a message to you, so you don’t hear the words, but gain a sense of what the message is about.

Q Why do certain spirit guides – for example a Native American Indian – choose to guide you?

Wendy replies: Guiding is a collaboration between the medium and the Spirit who work closely together. Our Spirit Guide influences our choices, and they are sensitive to our individuality and disposition. Those who have a Native American Spirit Guide will be interested in the sort of things that their Guide did in life, such as handicrafts. The Guide will bestow a love of nature and care for it. Because the Native Americans lived in tribes, the medium will feel the pull to live in a community of people with similar interests. A Chinese Spirit Guide will influence the person through calligraphy or to use the I Ching which is a book of ancient Chinese philosophy, for instance. Whatever skills and interests we have might well be on account of a Spirit Guide who is working with us, to inform, educate and direct us towards a healthier and more spiritually productive life.

Q  Why are the Akashic Records so important?

Wendy replies: This is an Indian philosophy which has been brought to the West. The word Akasha is Sanskrit and means ‘space’, and these are vast libraries of information which are kept in the Otherworld. Everything that has ever happened is written down and included are biographies of every thought, word and deed of all the people who have ever lived. They are important, firstly, because everything we think, feel and do is being noted, and this is so for everyone, of the past, the present and who are yet to be born. It is possible for some people to access these records in order to gain wisdom but it is very difficult to do so and might not be appropriate, as the records are intended for assessment after we have lived our life. Some people who have had a near death experience, automatically have a ‘life review’ – a snap shot vision into these records which often show what is really important in life. Their life will often change as a result of this experience.

Q  I struggle to sleep after I’ve connected to Spirit – why is this?

Wendy replies: Contact with the Otherworld is very stimulating and is a little like watching an exciting film. Our concentration is intense and our heart can pound and we feel very involved as we exchange energy with the Spirit world which is very different from this, our physical world. We need to open ourselves to this energy and then close down after it. If you haven’t closed down, Spirit will be trying to get messages through to you, and this will prevent relaxation and a sound sleep. This problem could have several causes and therefore several remedies. It could be too long a duration in which case I suggest you arrange with Spirit to be available for only 15 minutes at a time. Keep strictly to the times you have set. This means that Spirit deliver swift and concise messages and then the communication is cut. It could be you are a person who is always open to Spirit, in which case, you should not do any mediumship work at all because this opens you more. Use Walnut Bach Flower Remedy as that helps to reduce contact with Spirit. Speaking to people, such as friends on the phone is also helpful, as is going out for a walk, taking a bath, eating, drinking, taking exercise and anything that puts you in touch with your physical body. Try to create a routine, where you speak to Spirit at the same time each day for a short period. Light a candle, sit in the same chair, and use a gentle alarm to end the set time. Write down what the experience has been for you. Complete closure is the answer!

Q Can you explain the art of channelling to me please? Letty Carruthers

Wendy replies: Whereas most mediums deliver messages from loved ones in Spirit to give proof of survival after earthly death, channellers usually deliver messages from named spirits, such as Ascended Masters, who want to deliver messages to our world. These messages often contain cautions, predictions and life-style advice and can be related to war, pollution, corruption, greed, etc., and therefore offer philosophy and spiritual guidance. Most channellers are what is called ‘trance’ mediums where the medium looks as though they are in a semi-sleep state. The medium might remember some of the message depending on the level of their trance. Many channellers will write the message they receive, and sometimes the Spirit takes over the medium and writes the message using the medium’s hand. Sometimes, Spirit will take over the medium to deliver the message through the medium’s voice. Esther Hicks, Jane Roberts, and many Brazilian mediums are all channellers.
