When a
person’s physical body dies, their spirit separates and begins a journey to the
spirit realms. People who have been resuscitated in hospital after physical
death in the operating theatre describe a time of transition when the pass
along a tunnel, over a bridge or through a door. This takes them to the
entrance to the spirit realms where they are met by friends and family who
welcome them and help them to start the process of healing and training for
further work, such as becoming a spirit guide. Sometimes, this procedure to
enter the spirit realms does not complete itself properly and the spirit is
described as wandering or ‘earth-bound’. There are a number of reasons for this
failure. In the spirit realms, our personality exists along with our weaknesses
and passions and our value system. It could be that a cautious person has had
an accident and is confused by the new situation of not having a physical body.
A person might not want to enter the spirit realms because they have unfinished
business here on the earth plane, such as a need to rectify a problem or fear
of retribution in the spirit realms for an evil act. Sometimes, a wronged or angry
will want to hurt someone, knowing that if they fully enter the spirit realms,
they will not have the opportunity to do this. Earth-bound spirits need to
carry out their desires and needs in some way so they search for a person whose
spirit is weak enough to push over and allow them in to co-habit and therefore
find refuge, comfort and power. Others seek a place, an object or an animal to
inhabit.
When a
spirit has chosen a dog for this purpose it is very difficult to remove the
spirit that has attached itself to the animal. For example, Trixy was an
intelligent, healthy and fun loving dog who, at the age of two years old,
started to chase her tail. With several young children in the family, this
provoked lots of laughter. However, this experience of doing this was not an
entertainment for poor Trixy who could not stop herself from this exhausting
pastime. Working with Trixy a medium soon detected the distressed spirit of a
homeless alcoholic who had died on the streets. He saw Trixy walking along the
road and, due to her home life and fun loving nature, chose to inhabit her
rather than move on to the spirit realms. Speaking to the spirit of the man,
the medium explained that his physical body had died to which he cried out that
he was full of grief over the loss of his life, the life he had never led due
to his alcoholism and homelessness. He described how he longed for a loving,
warm home with an ordinary family life. He also described feeling immense
hunger. The medium held Trixy in her arms, holding her body close and felt the
immense sadness and hunger of the spirit of this man. The grief that he shed
allowed him to accept the realization that he no longer had any opportunity to
lead a physical life and must move on into the spirit realms. When the medium
left, Trixy still had tail chasing behavior but each time it happened, each member
of the family held their loved dog in their arms until she settled down. However,
on some occasions, the dog could not be pacified in this way. The man still
would not leave. The medium was called again, and when Trixy was chasing her
tail, the medium tapped her food bowl and the behavior ceased immediately. Within
a matter of a few days, the man accepted his position and left Trixy alone and
she no longer chased her tail.
Another
case of spirit attachment was in a newly adopted dog, Bruno, that had been
abused by its previous owner. Due to this abuse, a weakness developed that
allowed an abusive spirit to co-habit with the dog’s own spirit, which was
considerate and loving. Bruno would snarl often for no reason. This baring of
teeth occurred at odd times but as Bruno was a large dog with a thick set bone
structure, this was intended to be a warning that Bruno was deeply upset about
something. A visit to the vet for a health check did not show any pain or
discomfort that might have caused the growling. A medium came and inspected the
dog. She discovered that Bruno had a co-habiting spirit of a young man who died
in a road rage incident. At very high speed, he run his car off the road and was
badly injured and in pain over a very cold night in an upturned car before his
eventual death. The youth was still raging angry and he chose a big dog that
could seriously threaten people because he enjoyed seeing people frightened,
just as he was frightened before his death. The woman who adopted the dog
considered euthanasia incase it attacked someone. The medium knew if the dog
was put down, the youth’s spirit would find someone else to cohabit with. This case
would be difficult to solve and required a team of workers who met to chant and
pray for the youth to accept his stupid action and move on into the spirit
realms where he would receive his reprimand in the Hall of Judges. The dog
needed a calm environment and compassion and understanding for its situation.
The woman was requested to take the dog to training classes and take it to
visit friends and family on a daily basis so the dog was not left alone for
more than a three or four hours. She also provided a healthy routine of walks,
good quality food and praise for the dog for being well behaved and consistently
taking its mind off frustration and irritability by providing toys and a
comfortable bed. Within a few weeks, the dog showed no further sign of having
an unreliable temperament.
