Psychic Post Bag for August

Q: I’m recovering from a minor stroke and my clairvoyance has dimmed. Will it return as my health improves?

Wendy's reply: Any illness that affects our ability to think clearly will also affect our contact Spirit, so headaches, influenza, mental illness or strokes will be in this category. If we usually can easily deliver messages, we might find we are slower, have less depth or be more confused in delivering messages than usual. As we recover from the illness, our capacity for mediumship will return. This reduction only applies to illnesses that affect our brain. Our delivery can also be affected by tiredness, worry, alcohol and drugs and the best mediums have clear thought in their lives in general. If the illness affects our physical body only, our mediumship will not be affected by incapacity.

Druidry

Druidry is the ancient spiritual and temporal doctrine of the Celtic people, but, as they wrote nothing down, e know little about them. Today, people from a variety of traditions and cultures gather to celebrate the druidic way of life, and modern day Druids meet at outdoor camps to honour nature.

I attended one of these events and was very impressed by the quality of spirituality. About eighty people come together in a large circle to honour the sun at the summer solstice. Firstly, we got together in smaller groups to design a role we would like to play in the ritual celebration. This communal activity gave us all an opportunity to get to know members of our smaller group, then we all came together in the larger group to re-enact the passage of the sun in relation to the earth. This clearly explained about the movement of the sun, earth  moon, our solar system and the stars beyond. It was creative, enjoyable fun, and we learnt about the seasons also. There were many workshops from eminent teachers on offer. Each day there were a number of activities to choose from, including walks, talks and arts projects. In the evenings, there was poetry, music and dance. There was an emphasis on caring for the environment and also being aware of the needs to other people. I met many interesting and likeable people and returned home rested and more connected with nature and other people.

Shrines of France - A Visit

I left London with my travelling companion, Laura, firstly to visit the chapel and castle of St Mesmin. The traffic was congested so we continued on to the city of Orleans. This was an ancient town in 1424 when an illiterate girl, only 12 years old, saw visions and heard voices of the saints, Michael the archangel, Catherine of Antioch and Margaret. She also communed with the archangel Gabriel. Their voices inspired her to lead French armies in victory against the English during the Hundred Years War, restoring the crown to Charles VII. Shockingly, she was betrayed by the British, tried in court and burnt at the stake as a witch in 1431. We wondered why Michael and Margaret, both dragon slaying saints and therefore both related to leylines, were involved in Joan’s mission and we discovered strong leys in the area of Orleans. We visited the house in Donremy where Joan or Jean - the female form of John - was born and said mass in the thirteenth century church where she prayed. The original statue of St Margaret is there before which Joan prayed. It is a particularly powerful statue and myself and my colleague received an outpouring of love and strength, and we also received a message about the pointlessness and poisonousness of war, it's swings and roundabouts, and losses that last for generations. The energies in the forest where Joan received her first messages from the saints we’re still there to experience.  The spring - which in ancient times provided healing for those with fever and which the judge questioned her about during her trial - registers extraordinary energies. In the local town of Greux is a special shrine to St Margaret whose energies are very powerful.

The Story of Drugs

Hello, My name is DRUGS – I destroy homes, tear families apart, take your children, and that’s just the start.
I’m more costly than diamonds, more costly than gold, the sorrow I bring is a sight to behold.
and if u need me, remember I’m easily found, I live all around you, in schools and in town.
I live with the rich, I live with the poor, I live down the street, and maybe next door.
My power is awesome; try me you’ll see, but if you do, you may NEVER break free.
Just try me once and I might let you go, but try me twice, and I’ll own your soul.
When I possess you, you’ll steal, cheat, and lie. You do what you have to just to get high.
The crimes you’ll commit, for my narcotic charms will be worth the pleasure you’ll feel in your arms.
You’ll lie to your mother; you’ll steal from your dad When you see their tears, you should feel bad.
But you’ll forget your morals and how you were raised, I’ll be your conscience, I’ll teach you my ways.
I take kids from parents, and parents from kids, I turn people from god, and separate friends.
I’ll take everything from you, your looks and your pride, I’ll be with you always, right by your side.
You’ll give up everything… your family, your home… your friends, your money, then you’ll be alone.
I’ll take and take, till you have nothing more to give. When I’m finished with you you’ll be lucky to live.
If you try me be warned this is no game. If given the chance, I’ll drive you insane.
I’ll ravish your body; I’ll control your mind. I’ll own you completely; your soul will be mine.

The nightmares I’ll give you while lying in bed, the voices you’ll hear from inside your head,
the sweats, the shakes, the visions you’ll see; I want you to know, these are all gifts from me,
But then it’s too late, and you’ll know in your heart, that you are mine, and we shall not part.
You’ll regret that you tried me, they always do, but you came to me, not I to you.
You knew this would happen. Many times you were told, but you challenged my power, and chose to be bold.
You could have said no, and just walked away, If you could live that day over, now what would you say?
I’ll be your master; you will be my slave, I’ll even go with you, when you go to your grave.
Now that you have met me, what will you do? Will you try me or not? Its all up to you.
I can bring you more misery than words can tell. Come take my hand, I’ll take you to HELL!

Trauma Bonding

What is trauma bonding?

Dysfunctional behaviour as a result of mental instability or addictions such as alcohol, drugs or gambling can result in distress for both parties, and all parties within the relationship, whether family, friends or work colleagues, neighbours, health services and strangers. Those who have these traits, eg., unreliability, selfishness, negative thinking, blaming and not taking responsibility, manipulation, attention seeking, lying, demanding and/or aggressive behaviour have often had a childhood of confusing and destabiling messages from carers and take the confusion and chaos into their adult relationships. Addictions exacerbate these traits.

Perfume - Part One

I have always had a great love of scents. Perhaps my earliest memories are my mother's perfume, and staying at her sister's home, where she used an evocative perfume, which was kept in a pretty bottle on her dressing table. So what is your favourite? Mine are the floral scents. Frangipani, sweet, tropical, exotic, like Jasmin and oleander, bleeds a sap used in perfumes. The perfume was named after an Italian aristocratic family, whose political and religious influence from the 11th century to the Renaissance made their name famous.

If Nobody Smiled - A Poem

IF NOBODY SMILED

If nobody smiled and nobody cared, and nobody helped us along; If every fellow looked out for himself, and the good things all went to the strong; If nobody cared just a little for you, and nobody thought about me; And we stood all alone in the battle of life, what a dreary old world this would be.
Life is sweet because of the friends we love, and the things that in common we share; And we want to live on, not because of ourselves, but because of the people who care. It's giving and doing for somebody else - on that all of life's splendor depends; And the joy in the world, when you've summed it all up, is found in the love of our friends.

Reuse, Renovate, Recycle!

Our unique and finite planet is labouring under the weight of pollution, in the air, the soil and the seas.  If we are to survive as a species, we need to care for the environment and practice ecological ways of living. All species are interdependent - ie all dependent on each other. Our logging, mining, farming, arable growing, are all eating into the land that was once available to other species. Our forests are on fire year after year due to long term droughts, high winds and little rain. What can you do I hear you ask! Reuse, Renovate and Recycle whatever you can, and stop purchasing vehicles, white goods, furnishings, and most of all stop using chemicals and stop eating meat and meat products.

The Lemba People

The Mystery of the Lemba People:
Tudor Parfitt was a 19 year old student when he first visited Jerusalem in 1963 and heard the story that in ancient days, more than 2,500 years ago, when the Assyrians invaded Jerusalem, they massacred the people, and took the people captive. Later Babylon invaded, massacred and took the people to Babylon. The Ark of the Covenant that housed the 10 Commandments was lost. When released from captivity, many tribes did not make it back to their place of origin. They are called the lost tribes and they were predicted to one day return to their homeland.

Maturity

I was looking at maturity between men and women, and though one finds exceptions, women are generally maturer than men and this is probably why many partnerships occur between men who are a few  years older than their female partner. The problem with a lack of maturity is that it hurts the person themselves, often through a lack of self discipline, and hurts those around them, and sometimes society itself. Immaturity is so wasteful. Mature people are reliable, conscientious contributors to health and life, for those around them and for society too.

Why should this be? Females are introduced to care giving roles while they are still children often encouraged to look after dolls and then other younger children. When they reach their menarche, around the very early teenage years, they realise their body is preparing each month to bear a child. This monthly process continues for around thirty years, and can have uncomfortable effects, headaches, stomach aches, iron anaemia, etc. Pregnancy too has its difficulties, especially around working life. Child bearing and child rearing and baby health care are usually also the expected role of women. Toilet training, eating with cutlery, walking, talking, reading, and the teaching of the proper behaviour of a polite and peaceful child is often also seen as women’s work. Women are also expected to be the home makers and home managers and often are the care givers within the family, to care for the older generation. These duties require great altruism, empathy, responsibility, thoughtfulness and consideration. The delayed gratification of placing another’s wishes before one’s own is a self sacrifice that many around the world have no choice but to make.

Humanistic Psychology

Humanistic Psychology has the basic premise that we are born as pure and loving organisms (unlike many religious views that we are born evil). As pure and loving beings, appreciating closeness, nurturing and contact (no mammal species survive without it), we are on our way at birth to receive and give love and appreciation. This natural loving ability is also a means to heal and relate to others and to develop ourselves as powerful, creative and spontaneous. In the past, we were told we were born evil, and needed to have that evil removed from us through schooling, home life and through parental and teacher relationships. This oppression causes us to bottle up our true emotions, and we do not utter our real thoughts which are obstructed and suppressed rather than release them appropriately, whilst respecting and caring for others and understanding that they have suffered abuse under this misguided belief.

Lakota Code of Ethics

1. Rise with the sun to pray. Pray alone. Pray often. The Great Spirit will listen, if you only speak.
2. Be tolerant of those who are lost on their path. Ignorance, conceit, anger, jealousy - and greed stem from a lost soul. Pray that they will find guidance.
3. Search for yourself, by yourself. Do not allow others to make your path for you. It is your road, and yours alone. Others may walk it with you, but no one can walk it for you.
4. Treat the guests in your home with much consideration. Serve them the best food, give them the best bed and treat them with respect and honor.
5. Do not take what is not yours whether from a person, a community, the wilderness or from a culture. It was not earned nor given. It is not yours.
6. Respect all things that are placed upon this earth - whether it be people or plant.
7. Honor other people's thoughts, wishes and words. Never interrupt another or mock or rudely mimic them. Allow each person the right to personal expression.

Dogs!

There are an estimated 8 million dogs in the U.K. which has a long standing reputation as an animal loving nation.
1.9 million dogs are left alone for long hours, often without water or toilet facilities.
2.4 million never see a vet and are not fed or treated well.
4 million dogs are thought to be suffering from mental or physical distress because owners are irresponsible and uneducated.
7% are fed chocolate, played with roughly, are kept in a cage or outdoors.

Dogs are emotionally intelligent! They
are excellent companions, especially for elderly people. Walking a dog is an ideal way to keep fit and people in the street often stop to talk to someone with a dog. Dogs have been bred for 10,000 years to be helpers, guardians and “mans' best friend”. They come in a variety of sizes and there is a dog to suit everyone’s requirements.

However, dogs have many needs. They can live for 14 years during which time they have daily requirements for attention and are a considerable financial expense. If you buy a dog, you need to buy it from a reputable source. No puppy should be taken from its mother before 8 weeks or it will have behavioural problems. Puppies need to be handled caringly whilst still very young if they are to be comfortable with humans. If you buy from a breeder, always see the conditions the mother has lived in, as the mother will teach her offspring many things during those early weeks of life, including preliminary toilet training and for females, how to be a loving mother. Avoid getting a dog from a pet shop or a puppy farm. Selective breeding causes hidden genetic defects and mongrels are thought to be the healthiest and happiest of dogs.

4 of Swords

Keywords: withdrawal, introspection, regeneration.

This card guides us to pause, to spend time in solitude, to still our mind, take stock, and review the past in order to be able to gain wisdom by understanding our situations in a new and realistic light.

Quote from Einstein: I think 99 times and find nothing. I stop thinking, swim in silence, and the truth comes to me.

What is Alchemy?

Alchemy was known as the 'royal art' and was the earliest form of chemistry. Khem was the original name for Egypt, the first country in history to specialise in the use of chemicals.

Alchemy was burdensome and secretive, often working over stills and furnaces with poisons and unknown chemical reactions. Serious illness or death could ensue. These were the great adventurers of yesterday. It was considered to be extremely expensive and it bestowed great power, therefore its processes were kept secret and were considered magical. Wealthy patrons were promised marvellous things in return for their patronage, such as turning cheap metal into gold, and an elixir which would give eternal life.

When I was young, I was fascinated by mediaeval alchemy. It visited the British Library to read ancient texts and I saw illustrations of extraordinary monsters, crowned kings, wolves, lepers, strange marriages, peacocks, the slaughter of children, dragons, mermaids, and other wonderful and disturbing images. Could base metals ever be turned into pure gold? It is said in occult circles that Albertus Magnus in 1280, could change lead into gold but this, of course, is impossible (though the British Museum has a medallion that belonged to the alchemist, John Dee that was said to have been created from alchemical gold.) There was a lot of false claims because the alchemists were paid vast sums to research, and as their health deteriorated, they became more desperate to pretend they had found a great secret.

Kipper Cards

Kipper Cards were first seen in Munich around 1900 and named after their creator, Frau Susanne Kipper. However, some say that there is a river in Germany called the Wipper and that the people from this area invented the deck and some say the word comes from a type of tipping scales used for the devaluing of coinage! There are 36 cards with straightforward meanings, all read upright. Unlike Lenormand, they have no playing card images, just a number, title and image. Kipper also has main male and main female cards to represent the Querent and there are several images of people alongside titles, such as success in love, a gift, house, court, work, etc. Some Readers like to combine the Petit Lenormand of 36 cards with the 36 cards of the Kipper for a fuller deck of 72 cards.

Reclaiming the Earth

The values of the reclaiming tradition stem from our understanding that the Earth is alive and all of life is sacred and interconnected. We see the goddess as eminent in our planet’s cycles of birth, growth, death, decay and regeneration. Our practice arises from a deep, spiritual commitment with the Earth, to healing and to the linking of magic with political action.

Each of us embodies the divine. Our ultimate spiritual authority is within, and we need no other person to interpret the sacred to us. We foster the questioning attitude, and honour intellectual, spiritual and creative freedoms.

We are an evolving, dynamic tradition and work for female and male energies of divinity, always remembering that the essence is a mystery which goes beyond form. Our community rituals are participatory and ecstatic, celebrating the cycles of the seasons and our lives, and raising energy for personal, collective and Earth healing.
