From Sacred Sites Oracle Cards
Scrying Ritual: Prepare for the scrying ritual by watching a film or reading about the Round Table. You may wish to dress in flowing robes or a cloak, and walk through nature at dusk. When you are ready to begin the scrying, put on some mediaeval music, or some Arthurian inspired contemporary music. Pray over a bowl of water. Take a beautiful goblet or glass vessel and fill it with the prayed over water. Then gaze into it as you awaken your scrying skills. What do you see? Avalon is calling you. Let ancient memories of that time stir within you and give you glimpses of your past life.
Avalon is named after the ruler of the underworld. It was a place from which the dead embarked for the Otherworld. Contemplate the Grail maiden as she offers you a cup of holy water, inviting you to take a sip and connect with your inner divine feminine. The Grail was originally sacred to goddess worship that became intertwined with the story of Christ’s last supper, Joseph of Arimathea who assisted at Christ’s burial and brought such a vessel to Glastonbury, filled with Christ’s blood, and buried it at the entrance to the underworld. There is natural earth powers at the site. This is the time to awaken your gifts of psychic wisdom and harness them to gain better understanding of scrying. The Celtic name of the tower of Glastonbury was YNYSWITRIN meaning Isle of glass. It was said that GWYNNAPNUDD the fairy folk’s God of the Dead was seen as an owl and lived in a glass castle within the hill. Many legends are associated with Glastonbury, such as those of Joseph Arimathea who is said to have bought his young nephew, Jesus Glastonbury. Joseph planted his staff which grew into the holy thorn to represent the birth of Christianity in Britain. Joseph is also credited with founding Glastonbury Abbey where Arthur and Queen Guinevere was said to be buried. One day Arthur will awaken to defend us, that is the legend.
What aspects in your life need awakening? The tower on the Tor is all that remains of a church named after Michael, the mighty archangel who battles confusion. A carving on this tower honours the Goddess in the form of Saint Bridget. The tower marks the point where the ley lines of Michael and Bridget intersect and this is the heart of the world. The zodiac ring on the card refers to the huge map of the stars embedded in the Glastonbury landscape. This is said to allow communication with the heavens.
Glastonbury is the point where the power of Michael and Bridget - the green man and the Grail maiden - the divine masculine and feminine, meet together, offering a complete picture of caring power, and allowing the seeds of knowledge to blossom into the flowers and fruits of understanding and wisdom.
